What is Amara Health?
Amara Health is an adult concierge primary care practice. We combine longer visits, easier access, and preventive oversight to build an enduring relationship with your physician.

Amara is built around unhurried appointments, priority scheduling, and direct physician relationships. Our concierge model gives you more time and closer continuity with your doctor.
Who does Amara care for?
Amara exclusively provides adult primary care services.
2. Memberships
Do I need a membership to become an Amara patient?
No. Although Amara's concierge primary care model is membership-based, we accept walk-ins visits for a $99 fee per visit.

What is the difference between Essential, Signature, and Premier?

Become a Founding MemberIs membership the same as health insurance?
No. Membership is concierge primary care, not health insurance. Maintain insurance for emergencies, hospitalizations, surgeries, and outside services.
3. Insurance & Costs
Does Amara accept health insurance?
Amara plans to participate with selected major health insurance plans as credentialing is completed, allowing eligible visits to be billed through insurance.
If I have insurance, why do I also pay a membership fee?
Your membership fee covers enhanced access and primary care benefits. When we participate with your plan, eligible medical services can be billed through insurance, though standard copays and deductibles may apply.
Does my insurance pay for the Amara membership fee?
Membership fees are generally separate from health insurance coverage. Check with your insurance provider or HSA/FSA administrator regarding potential reimbursement.
Are outside labs, imaging, medications, and specialist visits included in membership?
No. Outside services like Quest labs, imaging, prescription drugs, and specialist care remain separate from your membership and may be billed through insurance.
4. Appointments & Access
Do Amara members get same-day appointments?
Members may request same-day or next-day appointments, subject to clinical appropriateness and availability.
How long are appointments?
Appointments are intentionally unhurried to allow thorough discussion, with lengths varying based on visit complexity.
Can I communicate directly with my physician?
Memberships include direct care team communication, with enhanced physician access available on higher tiers depending on your membership level.
Can I text my physician?
Certain tiers include secure physician communication through approved practice channels rather than personal phone numbers or social media.
Do you provide after-hours access?
Higher membership tiers include after-hours guidance for appropriate urgent concerns, though it does not replace emergency services.
What are your regular office hours?
Our regular hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
5. Medical Services
What medical conditions does Amara treat?

Does Amara provide preventive care?
Yes. We provide comprehensive preventive services, including annual evaluations, cardiovascular risk assessments, and cancer screening guidance. Learn more on our Services page.
Does Amara offer weight-management care?
Yes. Our physicians provide medical weight, and metabolic management, including lifestyle counseling and medication oversight when appropriate.
Does Amara offer minor procedures?
We offer selected in-office minor procedures such as earwax removal, basic wound care, and suture removal when clinically appropriate.
Do you provide EKGs?
Yes, in-office diagnostic testing including electrocardiogram (EKG) testing is available when medically necessary.
6. Labs, Imaging & Prescriptions
Can I have routine blood work drawn at Amara?
Routine blood draws are completed in-house through Quest Diagnostics, select point-of-care tests are available in-office.
What testing can be performed in the office?
In-office testing includes urinalysis, rapid strep, COVID/flu testing, blood glucose, and electrocardiogram (EKG) testing.
Where will I have imaging performed?
We coordinate outside imaging (x-ray, ultrasound, CT, and MRI) at appropriate local facilities.
Will Amara refill my medications?
Yes, your physician manages and refills appropriate prescriptions as part of your primary care oversight.
Does membership include prescription medications?
No, prescription medication costs are separate from membership fees and filled through outside pharmacies.
7. Specialists & Hospital Care
How are specialist referrals managed?
When specialty care is required, we coordinate referrals, communicate with specialists, and integrate their recommendations into your care plan.
What happens if I need hospital care or emergency room treatment?
Hospitalizations and emergency care are managed by hospital personnel, while our team provides post-discharge follow-up, and care coordination.
